False Alarm Kills Volunteer Fireman
DUBUQUE (AP)—A

Dyersville volunteer fireman died in a Dubuque hospital Monday night of injuries received when he fell beneath the wheels of a fire truck on its way to answer what proved to be a false alarm. He was Charles F. Gioimo, who was run over by the rear wheels of the fire truck. Fire Chief Jack Nebel said he slowed the truck down to about 10 miles per hour as it passed Gioimo's home. Gioimo grabbed for a ladder to get aboard the truck, but slipped and fell beneath the wheels. The fire alarm was turned in by a tourist who reported a barn burning on the Herb Benn farm near Dyersville. It turned out to be a rubbish fire, the fire chief said.
