DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Emil H. Reittinger, 79, of Dyersville, died after a sudden illness Tuesday, April 7, 1998, at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 7:30 p.m.

Mr. Reittinger was a factory and agricultural laborer his entire life.

He was born on May 28, 1918, in Dyersville, son of Tony and Augusta (Braun) Reittinger. He married Lucille Roling on Aug. 19, 1940, in Farley.

Surviving are his wife, Lucille; four daughters, Doris (Ray) Reth, of Manchester, Patricia Steger, of Dyersville, Marilyn (Doug) Sharp of Des Moines, and Debra (Lee) Mescher, of Guttenberg; three sons, David (Luetta) Reittinger, of Worthington, Richard (Rosemary) Reittinger, of Dyersville, and Donald (Karen) Reittinger, of Manchester; 27 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Delmar Reittinger, of Dyersville; and two sisters, Helen Kramer, of Adrian, Minn., and Mae Louise Kroeger, of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by a son, Roger, in 1993; a great-grandson, his parents, a brother and a sister.
