DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Mrs. Marlys M. Noethe, 73, of Dyersville, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at Stonehill Care Center, Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 8 p.m.

She was born March 30, 1928, in La Porte City, daughter of William and Alice (Newell) Cordray. She married Irvin Noethe on August 27, 1949, in La Porte City.

She taught country school, was a homemaker, and was a supervisor at The Ertl Co. in Dyersville for 26 years.

She enjoyed writing poetry, music and the company of her grandchildren.

Surviving are three daughters, Gwen Benn, of Earlville, Carol Ludovissy, of Dyersville, and Alice Noethe, of Cresco; four sons, Brian (Peggy) Noethe, of North Buena Vista, Wayne Noethe, of Joplin, Mo., and Ken (Karen) Noethe and Lee (Becky) Noethe, of Dyersville; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Irv, in 1990;, two brothers, Alvin and Don Cordray; and a sister in infancy, Betty.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Stonehill Care Center for the love, care and compassion shown not only to Marlys but also to the family during her stay at Stonehill.
