Mrs. Phoebe Gardner
Decorah, Ia. - Funeral services for Mrs. Phoebe Ann Gardner, 91, were held Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C.R. Winn in Castalia. The Rev. W.M. Suckow officiated and burial was in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Mrs. Gardner died Monday at Mrs. Winn's home.

She was born near Delhi on Jan. 6, 1851, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Doty. On June 15, 1870 she married John F. Fox to which union six children were born, four of whom survive: Mrs. Anna Dowd of Ottumwa, Charles of Gary, Ind., Mrs. Alex Morrow of Glenwood, Ill., and Mrs. Winn. Her husband died in 1906.

On Sept. 1, 1908 she married Eli Gardner at Boscobel, Wis. He died in 1934.

Also surviving are one stepdaughter, Mabel Gardner of McGregor; two sisters: Mrs. Jacob Yearos of Egin, and Mrs. Alvira Mootes of Eagle Grove; 10 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
