Mrs. C. B. Putnam, a pioneer of this county and for fifteen years a resident of Manchester, died at her home here on Saturday evening, December 1, 1917, at the age of 72 years. Funeral services were held from the residence on Tuesday afternoon, the Rev., Mr. Hudson officiating, and burial was made in Oakland cemetery. Esther Carroll was born in New York City, and being deprived of her parents in childhood made her home with an uncle residing in Michigan, where her marriage to C. B. Putnam took place. To them four children were born, Coleman of Lillieport, Ernest E, of Iowa City, Clarence J, of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. Nellie Howick of this city. These, with twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren, survive her. Mrs. Putnam was a member of the Methodist church and lived and died in the Christian faith. While failing health had kept her shut in for a number of years, yet she never lost the sunny disposition which characterized her. She was interested in the welfare of humanity and was a loving mother and true friend.
