Mrs. Charles F. Davey
Mrs. Charles F. Davey died Monday 21 April aged 77 years. She had been in frail health for some time and was confined to her bed for the past six weeks.
Ella Everton, daughter of the late William and Mary Everton, was born in LaGrange, Indiana 8 Nov. 1853. When a small girl she came with her parents to Earlville where she has been a continuous resident since. Her education was gained at the local public school and the Normal Institute of Delaware County. For a number of years she taught the rural schools and Earlville Public School.
Fifty years ago in February she was married to Charles F. Davey. Five children were born to them of whom three sons are left with the husband to mourn her passing. On son and one daughter died in infancy. The others are: Chauncey of Winneconne, Wisc., Reuben and Roland of Earlville. She is also survived by one sister (Mrs. Hattie Tuttle) of Los Angeles. Calif., and one brother, George, of Cedar Rapids, and four grandchildren.
She attended Sunday school in the Old White School house before the first ME church was built and in early life united with that denomination and took an active interest in its departments until ill health overtook her. She was a charter member of the Christian Rebekah Lodge no 290 and was a member of the Good Cheer Club.
Funeral services were held from the Methodist church on Wednesday afternoon conducted by the Rev John Gammons. At her request Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Irmscher sang her favorite hymns, "Face to Face" and "Jesus Savior Pilon Me". Interment was made in Fairview Cemetery.
