CURTIS-PRATT WEDDING

One of the prettiest weddings of the season took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Curtis south of Masonville on the eve of Feb. 9th, when Miss Alta Mae was united in marriage with Mr. Ray T. Pratt in the presence of their immediate relatives, promptly at 6 o’clock to the beautiful strains of the wedding march “Loves Sweet Dreams,” which was rendered so beautifully by Miss Blanche Durey, the bridal couple, attended by Mr. William Curtis and Miss Lavinia Pratt proceeded to a parlor where under an arch and ferns they repeated the solemn vows which united the for life, the marriage services being read by Rev. T. B. Cooper at the M. E. Church at Masonville of which bride and groom are members.

After the ceremony and congratulations the guests were repaired to the dining room which was artistically decorated in green and white where a delicious three course dinner was served.

The bride was daintily attired in beautiful creation of light blue crepe du chine with white marquisette over, and carried a bouquet of white roses, and the groom wore a suit of navy blue serge. The bridesmaid was becomingly attired in a gown of rose lavender crepe du chein carrying a white rose, and the groom’s man wore a suit of navy blue serge. The bride is the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Curtis and is an attractive and charming young lady and by her kind and gentle disposition has won a host of friends. The groom is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Pratt of Prairie Township and has grown from boyhood to manhood in this vicinity. Graduated from Waterloo Business College in 1912 and is an industrious and reliable young man.

A few hours after the ceremony, several of Ray’s schoolmates and friends, armed with all kinds of musical instruments, assembled at the scene of the happy occasion and serenaded the happy couple for a half an hour or so when they were invited in and served with refreshments. Games and music were enjoyed for a few hours when the invaders departed feeling they had been royally entertained.

The bride and groom departed the following morning amidst showers of rice for Chicago and other places in Illinois. They will be home to their many friends on a farm in Prairie Township after March 1st. The best wished of their many friends are extended for a happy married life. X X
