LARGE BARN DESTROYED BY FIRE

During the electrical storm of last Wednesday W. T. Kennedy, who lives eight miles southwest of this city had the misfortune to have his large barn struck by lightning. The only contents saved from the barn were a team of horses and a harness. The barn consisted of 80 tons of hay, 1500 bushels of oats and barley and a large amount of farm machinery. The entire amount of the loss was about $4,000, which is partially covered by insurance. The Farmers Insurance Company of Cedar Rapids had $1,800 and the Delaware County Mutual Fire and Lightening Insurance Company had $800 on the contents.
