Manchester Democrat, Wednesday, Jun 21, 1916, Manchester, IA, Page: 6

Wednesday, June 14th, occurred the marriage of Miss Roberta, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Baskerville at their home east of town to Mr. Ernest T. Smith of Volga. At high noon the bride and groom took their wedding places surrounded by fifty wedding guests. Rev. A. M. McIntosh of the Methodist Church read the beautiful ring service. The bride was very becomingly attired in white messaline silk with an overdress of white Georgette crepe and carried a bouquet of bride’s roses. After the congratulations the company was served to an elegant four course dinner. Both Mr. and Mrs. Smith are both graduates of Upper Iowa University at Fayette. For the past year the bride was a populate teacher at Sutherland, Iowa. The groom had been superintendent of the public school at Oberon, North Dakota. The happy couple departed that afternoon for a visit with relatives in various parts of the state. They will be home after the first of August at Leeds, North Dakota where Mr. Smith has accepted a position of superintendent of the city’s schools. Their many friends extend congratulation and best wishes for their future happiness.

The out-of-town guests at the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Smith and family of Volga City (a brother of the groom), Mr. and Mrs. Elwood of Tipton (a sister of the groom), Charles McClarre of Iowa Falls, Mr. and Mrs. John Cruise of Elwood Manchester, Wendell Baskerville, of Monona, Elizabeth Probasco, Geneva Stone, Will Adams, Roy Richards all of Waucome, Agnes Hoyt of Ridgeway, Mrs. Helen Newcomer of Fayette, Miss Emma Hillhouse of Pueblo, Colorado, and Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Baskerville and family of Greeley, Iowa.
