DESTRUCTIVE FIRE

Fire, which is believed to have its origins in sparks from the chimney, completely destroyed the residence of Jonathan Paisley, on Franklin Street last Friday evening. The family had just seated themselves at the supper table when passersby discovered that the roof of the house was on fire. An alarm was turned in immediately and the fire department rushed to the scene. High winds fanned the flames and by the time the firemen were able to turn streams of water on the blaze it was apparent that the building was doomed. Neighbors hastened to the premises and succeeded in getting practically–all of the households goods out of the building. A goodly amount of the furnishings of the chambers on the second floor were consumed in the flames.

A small part of the loss which Mr. Paisley sustained is covered by insurance. The Paisley family us surely having more than their share of misfortunes, last fall the mother was taken from after a long siege of illness, and now they lose their home.
