Ed Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Smith of Earlville, who is stationed at Key West, Florida, with the United States Coast Artillery, in a recent letter to his parents states that he will soon take the examination of gunner. He will, if successful, have charge of one of the modern models of disappearing guns used in the coast defense of the nation.
