WAY-HERMANN

The ceremony, which united in marriage Miss Millie Edith Way, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Way, of this city and John E. Hermann, youngest son of William Hermann, of Coffin Grove Township, took place at the Congregational parsonage Monday evening, January 24th, 1921, at 8 o’clock, and was read by Rev. H. L. Goughnour. The young people left on the night train for Sioux City and other points in western Iowa, where they will spend a few days with relatives and friends. They will be at home to their friends, two and one-half miles west of Manchester, on the Hawkeye Highway, March 1st.

The bride comes from one of the best families in this city and is a sensible and attractive young woman. For some time she was employed in the S. K. Myers Music in this city. She is eminently fitted by home training and natural temperament to preside over the home that is soon to be established

Mr. Hermann is a natural tiller of the soil, and has rented the E. Moore farm near Manchester, where he and his bride will soon begin housekeeping. During the war he served his country in the 33rd Division and spent a year over seas. During that time he participated in several engagements in which large numbers of his comrades were killed or wounded. He returned home after receiving an honorable discharge from the Army on Decoration Day, 1919. Since that time he has worked in the Brunswick Phonograph Factory at Dubuque and later took up the trade of mechanic and worked in the Manchester Auto & Supply Company’s plant for some months. After a year and a half of indoor work, Mr. Hermann decided that life on the farm was preferable to that in the town and has decided to engage in farming. He and his bride will go to housekeeping with the best wishes of a host of friends.
