MARGARET ANN GRAHAM was born in Belfast, Ireland, July l2, l835. She came to America when about five years of age, with her parents, who located in Indiana. She was married December l5, l857, to H.D. HAZLET. They moved to Illinois where their five children were born, the first born dying in infancy. In October, l876, the family moved to Decatur County, Iowa, locating on the present homestead. MR. HAZLET, her husband, died January l5, l887, at the age of 69.

MRS. HAZLET had been an invalid for several years, confined to her bed much of the time. She bore her afflictions with patience and with gratitude to the kind ones who cared for her. She departed this life Sunday, April l9, about 9:30 a.m., after a week's sickness, reaching the age of 85 years, 9 months and 5 days. In her young womanhood she turned to the Lord in obedience to the Gospel and continued in the faith of Christ to the end. She leaves to mourn her departure, two sons and two daughters, WM. H. HAZLET, of Hudson, Colo.; IDA M. KIMPORT, of Des Moines, Iowa; EMMA WALTON and JAMES HAZLET, of Eden Prairie; twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

There has passed from our midst another of the early settlers of this part, the last of her father's family and the last of the older women of the Eden Prairie Church. Her home life was an ideal one, filled with kind and loving deeds in mininstering to her loved ones as long as she was able. Her friends were numbered by her acquaintances and to know her was to love her. She had great sympathy for the suffering and distressed and "Her delight was in the law of the Lord. Her children rise up and call her blessed." They gave her every care and comfort possible in her declining years and no mother could be more blessed with faithful children than she has been. Our loved one has gone and our aching hearts will ever yearn for her loving greetings and words of cheers. "No man hath power over the spirit, to retain the spirit; neither hath he power over the day of death and there is no discharge in war."

The funeral services were held at the home, April l9th, at 3:30 p.m., conducted by Wm. Ellmore, of Covington, Ind., assisted by Wm. J. Campbell, of Davis City, Iowa. Mr. Ellmore spoke words of edification and comfort on "If a man die shall he live again?" The body was laid to rest in the Walton Cemetery by the side of her husband.
