JOHN S. TAPSCOTT, eldest son of DAVID S. and ANNA E. TAPSCOTT, was born near Tuskeego, Iowa, Nov. l9, l885 and died at Lamoni, Iowa, March l, l92l, being at the time of his death, 36 years, 3 months and l0 days old. He came to Lamoni in l896 with his parents, where he spent the greater part of his young life. He was united in marriage to MARGARET WILMA DAUGHTON, of Grand River, Iowa, Feb. l2, l906. To this union were born two sons, JOHN RALPH and LEON WALTER.

He, with his family, moved to Des Moines a few years ago, where he resided until a short time previous to his death. He leaves to mourn his wife, two sons, three sisters and four brothers, MRS. R.G. FRAZIER, of Davis City, Iowa; MRS. W.F. SALSMAN and MRS. R.O. BENEDICT, of Lamoni; PAUL D., MARK M., GLEN E. and EMERALD F., all of Lamoni, Iowa, besides other relatives and a host of friends. His death came as a shock to all. His wife and two children, sisters and brothers were present at his bedside when the end came. He was kind hearted and ever ready to help those in need, and will be greatly missed among his relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Tursday afternoon, March 3, by Rev. Gray, Pastor. His remains were laid to rest in the Elk Cemetery.
