SARAH ELLEN, oldest daughter of JAMES HENRY and EMILY TAYLOR, was born February l9th, l858 in Green County, Iowa and departed this life at four o'clock, October llth, l920. She was married to JAMES W. DEEMER March 20th, l876, at Rippey, Iowa. To this union were born five children, MRS. CLARA STONER, of Thayer, Iowa; FRED, of Grand River; CHARLES, of New Virginia; JOE, of Lamoni, and WILLIAM, of Davis City, who, with their father, are left to mourn her absence. She leaves one sister, EMELINE LONGNECKER, of Jefferson, Iowa; three half-sisters, MARTHA DUBOISE, ROSE BORDY and CORA MYERS, of Portland, Oregon; also four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

She has not been well for some time, but no one ever heard her murmur or complain, else her family and friends would have been better prepared for her sudden transition.

She was a kind and faithful wife and a loving mother, never tiring of administering to her family and friends. She was loved by all who knew her. The pall bearers were her four sons, a son-in-law and grandson.

None could see the beckoning land,

None could hear the call.

Dear Mother, thou art gone,

The form we never shall see more,

But hope some sweet day,

To meet thee on that beautiful shore.

Funeral services were conducted in the M.E. Church at Decatur by the Pastor, and burial was in the Decatur Cemetery.
