Josephine Mae Strong, 97, passed away on April 14, 2024 at Mercy Medical Center (Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa).

She was born July 13, 1926 in Lamoni, Iowa to her parents, Joseph and Edith Thorpe. Josephine loved the outdoors. She enjoyed traveling, yard work, and gardening.

Josephine is survived by her children, Goldia (Bill) Mustain, Gary Strong, and Wayne (Mary Fe) Strong.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, W. Glenn Strong and Richard Ratchford; daughter, Glenda Tilford; and her parents.

Family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 22, 2024 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Memorial service will take place the following day, Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Community of Christ Church, 1645 Pennsylvania Avenue in Des Moines.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in loving memory of Josephine Strong.
