Ron Lancaster, Sr., 67, passed away on October 5th, 2022. He will be sadly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts.
He was born to parents Talitha (Snethen) and Billy Bryant, on October 20, 1954, in Leon, Iowa. Ron pursued a career in maintenance engineering, earning several electrical, heating, and cooling certifications and licenses.
Ron is survived by his son Ron (Cynthia) Lancaster Jr., and his daughter Barb (Jay) Lancaster; as well as his siblings Billy (Brenda) Lancaster, Vicki (Carson) Major, and Talitha (Lee) Wilson; and his mother, Talitha (Marion) Hurst; and grandchildren Megan Leonard, Sophia and Drew Lancaster, Ethan and Bella Lowell. He was preceded in death by his biological father, Billy Bryant, and adopted father, Victor Lancaster.
Ron was an avid reader, with a special interest in fantasy fiction, most recently stocking up on every book written by R.A. Salvatore. Ron loved to fish including competing in large mouth bass tournaments in the Ozarks. He enjoyed hunting and spent hours and hours learning the ways of whitetail deer while honing his skill in archery. He was an excellent craftsman and artist and he particularly enjoyed drawing with charcoal. Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting for and carving arrowheads. From his early years on, Ron enjoyed the farm life and animal husbandry. As a child, he spent time on the road with his Grandpa Otis shearing sheep. More recently, he spent several years with his sister, Vicki, raising sheep and chickens. But in many ways, Ron’s passion was helping others through his work: by sharing his knowledge and expertise in a professional capacity as well as helping family and friends.
The memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at 3 p.m. at the Bloomington Community of Christ church in Lamoni, Iowa.
