Alen E. Comer, son of Albert and Ida Belle Comer, was born September 9, 1890, in Lamoni, Iowa, and died February 6, 1972, at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa at the age of 81 years.
He resided in Lamoni until he was 21. The next few years were spent in the Mount Ayr and Red Oak, Iowa areas. He later homesteaded near Newcastle, Wyo. Alen engaged in farming in the Van Wert and Weldon areas from 1920 until his retirement In 1955.
July 22, 1918, he entered the army at Grand Island, Neb., and served until his discharge in July 1919. He served in France with the A.E.F.
In 1920 he was united in marriage to Alice E. Ludwig, who preceded him in death in 1969. To this union were born three children: a son and two daughters.
He served as a member of the Pleasant Ridge school board in Clarke County for nine years.
Surviving are his children, Eugene Comer of Eaconsfield, Beulah Brammer of Murray, and Irene Hammons of Osceola; three sisters, Ida Schneider, Marion, Ind., Leta Blackledge of Davenport, and Alberta McFarland of 1000 Oaks, Calif.
