Fred Goodenough was born in Volina Township, Cass County, Michigan, November 11, 1870. Until his marriage, he resided nearly all his life on a farm near his birthplace.

He was married to Jessie M. Cave of Lamoni, Iowa, January 16, 1910. One son was born to this union, who passed away at birth. The first year after his marriage was spent in Michigan. He then came to Lamoni and since has made this place his home.

His illness dates back to several months. As soon as it was discovered his wife hastened with him to Michigan thinking that the quiet country life and associations with home folks would prove beneficial. He was tenderly cared for there by mother, brother, and sisters, but to no avail. They returned home, consulted specialists, and made every effort to restore health, but he steadily declined until his death came March 14, 1921.

He leaves a wife, an aged mother, a brother Oscar C., and three sisters, Vernie and Muriel Goodenough, and Mrs. Cora Lauchalt, all of Michigan, and many relatives and friends here.

He was baptized into the [Reorganized] Latter Day Saints’ Church July 25, 1919, at Lamoni, Iowa, by Elder Columbus Scott, to which faith he was very devoted to the end.

Funeral this afternoon at the home of Mrs. Ada Judson, sister of Mrs. Goodenough, at 2:30, in charge Elder S.K. Sorensen, sermon by Elder C. Scott.
