Elizabeth McDaniel. The grim reaper visited the home of Benjamin F. McDaniel and wife, Friday, May 18th, and bore away the gentle spirit of Elizabeth Jane, their only daughter, to the rest prepared for the pure and the good. She was born in Davis City, July 14, 1865, and has been a resident of this county all her life. For a time she taught school but she was devoted to her home and aided her mother in the care of a large family, who now deeply mourn her departure after long suffering. August 21, 1897, she took up her cross to follow the Lamb of God, being baptized into the Saints church, under the ministry of Elder Richard S. Salyards, living the life of a Christ follower, active in church and Sunday school work. She leaves to mourn their loss besides father and mother, seven brothers, as follows: Jehu G., Thurman T., Lester J., Jas. H., Ephriam C., Carl S., and Roscoe. There preceded to the beyond two brothers and one sister, Wm. A., Lawrence P. and Cora Minerva. The funeral services were held at the Saints church in Davis City, May 18th, Rev. Robt. M. Elvin preaching a comforting sermon from Revelation 13 :14 and asking the prayer at the grave, while Elder Geo. J. Blair offered the invocation and Rev. Place the benediction. The large attendance of sympathizing friends and the floral offerings were evidence of the esteem in which the departed was held.
