___
Decatur County Pioneer Resident of 73 Years Standing—Funeral Friday
___
Mrs. Anna Marie (Mary) Mader, 93, quietly passed away at her home here at 11:15 Tuesday morning.

A native of Switzerland, she was born in the canton of Solothurn, January 20, 1851, and came to this country with her parents in 1858.

They settled in Will county, which is just south of Chicago, and she lived there until her marriage to Jacob Mader, which took place at Wilton Center, Illinois, in 1868.

Remaining in Illinois the next two years, the Maders moved in 1870 to Decatur county, before there was a Lamoni and when the nearest railway center was Osceola. Settling on a farm southwest of Lamoni they resided there for 30 years, followed by 14 years on a farm one mile southeast of Lamoni.

Moving to town in 1914, they celebrated their 50th wedding date in 1925. Her husband died in 1927 and she had since made her home here, in company with her daughters, Minnie and Lucille.

Surviving are five daughters and two sons: Mrs. R.T. Allen of Chariton; Mrs. Grace Sherburne of San Antonio, Texas; Mrs. H.L. Hartshorn of Stroner, Wyo.; Miss Minnie of the home; Mrs. Edmund Sprague; J.T. Mader of Independence, Mo.; and W. E. Mader of Tulsa, Okla. Five other children had previously passed away.

Funeral service plans are pending the arrival of relatives.
