Mr. George Weld was born in New York on June 23, 1834. During his youth, his parents removed from New York to northern Illinois, and on January 7, 1 858, when he was past 23 years, and Mary Olsen was 20 years old, they were united in marriage at Ottawa, Ill., fifty-nine years ago this month.

All their four children are living, Francis M., Oscar L., Phoebe A., and Carrie J.. Frank and Oscar have been in or near Lamoni, for many years. Edwin Allen, the husband of Phoebe, died in Chicago, nearly twenty years ago, and she came here to live. Carrie, the wife of Daniel N. Danielson, came from Holden, Mo., where they reside. The four were all present to mourn with their aged mother, who also has been very poor in health for a long time.

Mr. and Mrs. Weld came to Lamoni in 1898 to make their home, and they have dwelt here since then. Both have been members of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ, since their early days and they have been esteemed as among the most worthy citizens of our town.
