Everett Lee Walden was born October 9, 1927, at Lamoni, Iowa, and passed away on November 12, 2010, at the age of 83. At the time of death, he was a resident of Santa Clara, CA. He was one of three children born to Leonard Arthur and Florence Edna (Poff) Walden.

He attended the Lamoni Public Schools, Graceland College, University of Iowa (B.A., M.A.), and University of Colorado (EdD).

At the age of eighteen, he enlisted in the Air Force and spent most of his enlistment period at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington D.C. in the Weather Service.

His professional career in education spanned thirty-seven years as a high school teacher of mathematics and science, high school principal, and the last twenty-two years as a professor of Educational Administration at Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota. While at the University he was awarded two Merit Awards for teaching, and authored numerous articles in professional journals, including chapters in two books. He was especially proud of his former students who had become successful school administrators.

After retiring in 1989, he and his wife Shirley moved to Sun City West, Arizona. He was an avid golfer and devoted many hours to the sport. He was a member of the Pebblebrook Men’s Golf Club of Sun City West and was involved in many activities of the club including the presidency. In 2009, they moved to independent living in Santa Clara, California.

Everett was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Laverne.

Surviving him is his wife of 58 years, Shirley Morgan Walden and twin sister Yvonne of Lamoni, Iowa, son Steven, daughter-in-law Emma and grandson Steven Walden, Jr. of Manila, Philippines, son David, and daughter-in-law Susan of Blaine, Minnesota, granddaughter Kara and husband Robert Dahlberg of Mounds View, Minnesota, granddaughter Kimberly and husband Marcus Breitbarth of St. Louis, Missouri, great-granddaughters Karja, Anneka, and Piper Dahlberg of Mounds View, Minnesota, and Katelyn Breibarth of St. Louis, Missouri.
