Kay Eugene White, age 87, the son of Kay Orlando and Myrtle Belle (Miles), was born September 18, 1933, at Cherokee, Iowa. He died at the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa on January 8, 2021.

Gene grew up and started school in Cherokee before the family moved to Lamoni, Iowa. Gene graduated from Lamoni High School in 1952. He attended Graceland College for a semester before going to work on the farm with his dad. He was drafted into the Army and served from February of 1955, until November 1956.

Gene married and was blessed with two sons, Michael and Darrell. On July 20, 1963, he married Marilyn Jean Beeson at Cainsville, Missouri. They made their home at Lamoni and were blessed with five children, Sandy, Janice, Rhonda, Jacque, and Kelly. Gene was an over the road truck driver much of his working life. He did own and operate the DX station in Lamoni for a couple of years before he went back to driving. After retirement he bought and operated mobile power washing equipment. He washed anything that could be washed. In 2014, at age 80, he sold the business and retired for good.

He always enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and camping. He especially loved having his grandkids with him. After retirement he enjoyed going to the sale barn and having coffee with all his friends. He was a prior member of the Church of Christ and was a Mason for a time.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and two sisters and their husbands, Joyce Tracey and Don and Marian Heaviland and Lee. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn White of Lamoni; children, Michael & Tina Scott of Jamaica, Iowa, Darrell & Micki Scott of Eagle Point, Oregon, Sandy & Jerry Hill of Lamoni, Janice & Steven Ruby of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Rhonda & Tim Gillespie of Winterset, Iowa, Jacque & Adam Bear of State Center, Iowa, and Kelly & Allison White of Urbandale, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and two more on the way; sister, Doris McElroy and husband, Bill of Lamoni; brother, Jerry White and wife, Marlene of Urbandale, Iowa; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
