Mary Ann Hansen was born in Denmark, July 29, 1874, and passed from this life at her home north of Lamoni, Iowa, Thursday evening, February 14, 1929, age 54 years, 6 months and 16 days.

When about 7 years of age, in company with her parents she moved to this country, settling in Buchanan county, Iowa.

On February 22, 1899, she was united in marriage to Christian W. Petersen. To this union were born eight children, one of whom, a son, preceded her in death, February 14, 1920.

In 1900 the family moved to New Salem, N.D. where they resided until November 1919, at which time they moved to a farm north of Lamoni. While living in New Salem she became converted to the gospel as it was preached by the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and united with that organization June 30, 1918.

She leaves to mourn her departure her companion, Christian W. Peterson, two daughters and five sons: Mrs. Eva Lane, of Blythedale, Mo.; Mrs. Mabel Holst, of Masonville, Iowa; Roy, of Artantic, Iowa; Paul, Floyd, Loren and Arnold of Lamoni. Also three sisters and one brother: Mrs. J.P. Hansen, Mrs. Nels Madsen and P.T. Hansen of Independence, Iowa; and Mrs. J.F. Dauber, of Pine River, Minn.; and two grandsons.

Funeral services were held at the Bloomington chapel Sunday afternoon, February 17. Sermon by Elder W.E. Prall. Elder R.A. Ballantyne was in charge of the services. Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery, Lamoni.
