WOOTEN. John R. Wooten was born April 6, 1855, near Galesburg, Illinois, his youth and early manhood being passed in the cities of Galesburg and Chicago.

On the 12th of December, 1881, he was united in marriage to Miss Margaret Crafts, at Creston, Iowa, and to them have been born two daughters and one son.

In January, 1895, he united with the Beth-Eden Baptist Church, of Omaha, Nebraska. Removed with his family to Lamoni, Iowa, in the August following, where they have since resided, and where his death occurred April 11, 1898.

His wife and three children mourn his departure. He was kind to his family, a quiet, unassuming man, of gentlemanly deportment in his relations with his fellow men. He said to his wife shortly before his death, that he was prepared to enter the unseen state.

Funeral services at the residence, April 13. The remains were sent to Lincoln, Nebraska, for interment.
