Thursday, May 8, l9l9

ALICE TANSEY was born in St. Paul, Minn., July 27, l858, and died at her home in Weldon, Iowa, April 29, l9l9, age 60 years, 9 months and 2 days.

When a child she moved with her parents to Monrovia, Indiana, where she resided until she ws about l5 years old, when she came with her parents to Iowa, locating at Smyrna, Clarke County. About l875, she came to Weldon where she lived to the end of her life.

She was the third child of her family of ten children of whom four are living: ARAH ZELL BARNTHOUSE and CHAS. E. TANSEY, Weldon, Iowa; JENNIE P. PACE, Chariton, Iowa; and AUSTIN B. TANSEY, Des Moines. Her parents died about twelve years ago.

When about thirteen years old, she yielded to the call of her Savior and found the satisfaction of peace in being accepted as His child, and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church at Monrovia, Indiana, continuing membership in that church until l902, when she transferred her membership to the Christian Church. She was a faithful and devoted member of this communion until she was translated to the church triumphant.

She was without ostentation in her life, a constant Christian example of faith and works and her exemplary life was a source of inspiration to those with whom she labored. Her church and the friends with whom she associated will miss her in the circle of service and companionship, but are comforted in the happy memory of her counsel and good deeds. Surely she rests from her labors and her works do follow her.
