Howard E. Strand, 82, of Lamoni died of a heart ailment Monday at a Leon hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lamoni Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Mr. Strand retired as an attorney in private practice, had been a magistrate judge in the 1960s and 70s and prior to that was Lamoni city attorney.

He is survived by his wife, Jean [Johnson]; four sons, Randall of Clarinda, Richard of Lakewood, Calif., Rodney of Kenosha, Wis., and Justin of Sheridan, Wyo.; a daughter, Nancy Jean Hendrickson of Branson, Mo.; two sisters, Bertha Bancroft of Paullina and Olive Emory of Springdale, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
