Betsy Elizabeth Gibson was born in Floyd county, Iowa, Sept. 23, 1854, and departed this life, Sept. 23, 1915, aged 61 years. She was the daughter of Joseph and Betsy Gibson. She was married to Peter L. McDowell, Dec. 28, 1871. To this union eleven children were born, one having preceded her. She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, five sons and five daughters. They are Geo. E., Harry W., Mrs. Frank Bryant, John F., Mrs. Geo. Bryant, Jesse L., Mrs. Fred Hauenstein, Mrs. C. V. Brown, Miss Anna and Orin U. All were at her bedside at the time of her death. She united with the M. E. church in the year 1900 and since that time had lived a true christian life.
