Decatur County Journal
Thursday, January 6, l9l6

MISS CHRISTINA VAIL was born in Richland
County, Ohio, July l8th, l836,
and died at her home in Garden Grove,
December 26th, l9l5.

When about ten years of age, she moved with
her parents to Crawford
County and from there later to Pittsburg,
Iowa, where the family
remained until the year l862 when they
permanently settled in Garden
Grove, Iowa.

For many years, MISS VAIL has resided in the
community. She was a woman
of rare virtues and perfect temperament,
never displaying impatience,
never allowing herself to be moved to anger,
always generous to the
faults of others, and kindly disposed towards
everyone. She has devoted
her life unselfishly to the care of her
parents during their life time,
and after their death, to the maintaining of
a home for her sisters and
brother.

To those who knew her best she will be most
missed, and to all who bore
acquaintance, she has ever stood in the
relationship of a true and
dependable friend. She leaves two sisters,
MRS. JAMES CROWLEY, of
Chariton and MRS. R.S. WILSON, of Keosauqua,
and JAMES VAIL, of Garden
Grove. Funeral services were conducted
Tuesday afternoon at the M.E.
Church by Rev. Duling and interment was in
the Garden Grove Cemetery.
