Travis Allen Vaughn, age 38, of Leon, Iowa, the son of Paul Randall and Terri Lynn (Clark) Vaughn, was born June 2, 1980, in Leon, Iowa. He died on his farm, his favorite place on earth, on Friday, April 12, 2019.

Travis grew up on the farm and attended school in Leon, Iowa. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad and was active in 4-H and FFA. Travis graduated in Leon with the Central Decatur School Class of 1998. He then attended Kirkwood College for two years graduating in 2000, with a degree in Production Livestock. He returned to the farm, working near his mother’s, uncle’s, and cousin’s farms.

Travis met his wife, Kendra Kay (Jones) Walker, in 2009. She kept a smile on his face. They were married September 1, 2015, on the farm. Her three sons became a big part of Travis’s life. He enjoyed watching them play school sports along with fishing and hunting with them, working on 4-H projects, and attending the county fair. They were a tremendous help on the farm. He taught Connor and Tyke the fine art of raking and Champ was always ready to help move cows. He enjoyed all the family time, including boating, vacations, and trips to the Royals games. He loved mushroom hunting with Kendra and the boys. He looked forward to Michelle, Grayson, and Ellis’s visits to the farm. His nephews loved helping Uncle Travis toss ear corn to the cows and calves, helping bale hay, playing in the pond, and throwing balls to Angus and Hank.

Travis got his love of Iowa State Athletics from his mother and grandfather. Attending Iowa State football games with family and friends and watching Cyclones basketball was always the highlight of the week. He was a member of the Decatur County Cattlemen Association, the Decatur County Corn Growers Association, and the Iowa Corn Growers Association. He enjoyed attending Trinity Christian Church with Kendra and the boys.

Preceding him in death were his dad, Paul Vaughn in 1995, and grandparents, Billy and Barbara Vaughn and Vaughn Clark. Those missing him most are his wife, Kendra Vaughn of Leon, Iowa; sons, Connor Mahan of West Des Moines, Iowa and girlfriend, Delaney May, Tyke Walker, and Champ Walker, both of Leon; mother, Terri Vaughn of Leon; parents-in-law, Jan and John Gaukel of Messena, Iowa; sister, Michelle Vaughn of Holly Springs, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Shelly Lilienthal and husband, Vic, and brother-in-law, William “Bill” Jones and wife, Sommer, all of Mt.
