MARY ELLEN RIGGS was born Octoer 23, l859, in Union County, Iowa, and
moved with her parents to Decatur County in l873. She was married to
C.D. SUMMERS, May 9, l879. To this union seven children were
born--three boys and four girls--all of whom are living.
Sister SUMMERS was converted and united with the M.E. Church in the year
l878. She died of lung fever on January l4, l898, in the home the
family so recently built, aged 38 years, 2 months and 21 days. [Interment Creveling Cemetery.]
She leaves the husband, seven children, her mother, two sisters, three
brothers and her aged mother-in-law to mourn her loss, also a host of
neighbors and friends who have learned to love and respect her.
The funeral services were conducted at the home, January l6, by the
writer.
