Decatur County Journal
Thursday, September 9, l9l5

One of the saddest events we have been called
upon to chronicle for many
years, occurred last week at the home of MR.
and MRS. LEWIS HOLLARS,
five miles west of Lineville, when on
Thursday morning the little two
and one-half year old son, MANFORD, drank a
solution of concentrated
lye, during the temporary absence of his
mother from the room where she
had been using the solution in washing milk
vessels. The little fellow
was placed in a car and hurried to a
physician at Mercer with all speed,
where everything possible was done to
counteract the effects of the
poison, but without avail and death came to
the little sufferer on the
following morning. He was the only son of
the deeply bereaved parents,
the other children of the family being three
daughters, and was a
grandson of MR. and MRS. J.N. HOLLARS, of
south Lineville, and MR. and
MRS. AL VAUGHN, of Decatur County.

The funeral was held on Saturday, touching
and consoling services being
conducted by J.W. Judd, the interment being
at the HOLLARS Cemetery west
of town.
