Decatur County Journal
Leon, Decatur County, Iowa
February 13 1902

SARAH AMANDA BLAKE was born in Coshocton County, Ohio, November 9, 1843, and died at her home two miles south of Leon, February 9, 1902, being thus fifty-eight years and three moths old. She moved with her parents from Ohio and settled in Decatur County in 1857, being then but a young girl of fourteen years of age, and has spent the whole of her remaining life in this county, save brief visits elsewhere.

She was married in 1861 to W.S. WILSON. From this union three children were born, JOSEPH V. WILSON, now living in Bakersville, Cal., ALBERT R. WILSON and MRS. EMMA GRAVES. MR. WILSON died September 18, 1869. MRS. WILSON was again married, February 26, 1872, to MR. J.W. YOST. From this marriage, four children were born, MRS. EVA CHASTAIN, MRS. OLLIE WILLIAMS, CLYDE B. YOST and HARRY T. YOST. MR. YOST died September 3, 1893.

MRS. YOST made a profession of her faith and united with the Christian Church in 1877. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.H. Ilsley of the Presbyterian Church who spoke from the text, "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from hence forth; yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them." Rev. 14:13. In this remark he paid tribute to the earnest Christian character of the deceased, and dwelt upon the value of such a life to the members of her family and the circle of friends, thus making impressions from which it was certain that her works would follow her in the influence of her life upon theirs. A large circle of friends attended the remains to their last resting place in Eden Cemetery.
