OBITUARY - EDWARD J. JOHNSON.

The subject of this sketch was born Sept. l7, l874, in High Point
Township, Decatur County, Iowa. He united with the German United
Brethren at the age of l6 years and has lived an earnest Christian
life. By diligent application to study he was qualified to teach in our
public school. After teaching seven terms, he entered Mt. Morrit
College, where he remained one year, returning home he taught one term
of school and was married to MISS MAITIE CASTER, March l3, l900, and
they moved on a farm 2 l/2 miles south of Woodland, where they lived
happily for three years, and was chosen to the ministry by the church of
his choice Sept. 7, l900.

He died at the city hospital in Clarinda, Iowa, April ll, l903, aged 28
years, 6 months and ll days. The funeral services were held in the M.E.
Church in Leon, conducted by Elder L.M. Kob, of Garden Grove, and he was
laid to rest in the Leon Cemetery, leaving a sorrowful and loving wife,
father, mother, brothers and sisters to mourn their loss.
