NORMA PAULINE ANDREW

Norma Pauline Baker Andrew, the daughter of Sherman and Gerna [Boles] Baker, was born Feb. 18, 1917, in Grand River and died Jan. 1, 2004, at Westview Acres Care Center in Leon [Iowa]. She was 86.

She married Giffin Kyne Andrew on Oct. 17, 1934, in Hiawatha, Kan. The couple became the parents of three children, Jerry, Linda and Rea.

Mr. and Mrs. Baker [the name is a newspaper error should be Mr. and Mrs. Andrew] farmed six miles south of Grand River until 1964 when they moved to Osceola. Mrs. Andrew continued to work alongside her husband on construction and bee keeping until 1983 when they moved back to Grand River. They wintered in Port Aransas Texas where she enjoyed her husband, family, flowers and fishing.

Preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, Keith Baker and his wife, Gert and Eugene Baker.

Mrs. Andrew is survived by her husband of 69 years; three children, Jerry B. Andrew of Paris, Texas, Linda L. Boyd and her husband Bill Boyd of Gallatin, Mo. and Rea R. Gray and her husband, David Gray, of Grand River; eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; two sisters-in-law, Lee Cornelison of Des Moines and Mary Baker of Mount Ayr; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Andrew were held Jan. 3 at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon the Rev. Neville Clayton officiating.

Casket bearers were grandsons and great grandsons, Mike Andrew, Weston Boyd, James Boyd, David Michael Gray, Mike Johnson, Zebulon Glenn, Heath Ledgerwood and Jerrod Ledgerwood. Interment was in the Grand River Cemetery.
