Again this week we print a star for another brave Decatur County lad who has given his life to his country, Earl Baker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Baker, of Grand River, who volunteered in the Navy several months ago, word having been received that he passed away at Long Island, New York, last Saturday, his death being from Spanish influenza which developed into pneumonia. His body is expected to arrive in Grand River today.

Earl Baker, Grand River, Iowa ---
Son of Richard and Hannah [Street] Baker, born near Grand River, Iowa, October 25, 1897. Enlisted in the Navy at Des Moines, Iowa, June 3rd, 1918. While at the Great Lakes he was in Co. 1, Reg.5. While at Norfolk, Va., went to Quartermaster school and was steerman on the U. S. S. Missouri at the time of his death.
