Obituary ~ Harold Eugene "Gene" Norris

Leon, Decatur County, IowaHarold Eugene Norris, age 71, was born in Leon, Iowa to Harold Wallace and Lois Elizabeth (Stephens) Norris, on March 26, 1947. He passed from this life on May 30, 2018, at Westview Acres in Leon, Iowa.
Eugene, as he was known, was the oldest of five children and attended Central Decatur Schools all grades. After graduation, he and his best friend, Archie Owens, went to California and worked for a bottled water company making home deliveries. After returning to Leon he worked various jobs over the years. He married Marianne (Blake) Davis. To this union, one son was born, Mathew Shane. They were later divorced.
Eugene turned his life over to God and was baptized in early May of 2018. He enjoyed country western music and picking around on his guitar. He also enjoyed collecting stamps, guns, hunting knives, and watching old westerns.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Harold and Lois Norris and sister, Charlotte Smith. Survivors include his son, Matt Norris and Jessica Escobedo of Fort Dodge, Iowa; grandsons, Cobi, Domanick, and Kameryn; sisters, Elaine Simmerman of Murray, Iowa and Judy and Gregg Henderson of Leon; brother, Farold and Mary Norris of Des Moines, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and life long friend, Charlie Sage.
Memorial services will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2018. Burial will be in the Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.
