Thursday, November 06, 1913, Page 1

Anthony Cox, the son of Albert and Hannah Cox, was born in Mack, Somersetshire, England, on Aug. 30, 1842. In 1869 Mr. Cox with his wife, came to America and established their home at Rolfe, Iowa. About 15 months after coming to America Mrs. Cox passed into the next world leaving Mr. Cox alone to mourn her loss. Mr. Cox resided at Rolfe, something like twenty years. He then came to Decatur county, making his home near Leon.

On Nov. 24, 1891, Mr. Cox was married to Mrs. Louise Jane Redman. Mr. Cox was raised in the church of England, and although never uniting with any church after coming to America there is no doubt but that he was a christian man of high character and standing. In the home he was a kind and loving husband, doing all that he could do to make the home life pleasant, happy and comfortable. In his life outside of his immediate home circle Mr. Cox has always been recognized as an upright, honorable and christian citizen and neighbor.

He passed away quite suddenly, early Friday morning, Oct. 21, 1913, at his home in Leon, being at his death 71 years and 2 months of age. He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife, three step-sons, and one step-daughter, besides a large number of other relatives and friends.

While his death has come as a surprise and shock to the bereft wife and friends yet we know that it is for the best for He who has taken the departed one to be with Himself doeth all things well.

The funeral was held at the home at 2:30 Friday afternoon. Rev. F. A. Lewis conducting the services.

Saturday morning the remains were taken on the early train to Rolfe, Iowa, his former home for interment, accompanied by Mrs. Cox, George, Bert and Ben Redman and Frank Binning.
