Robert Larry Boles, age 66, of Osceola, Iowa, was born January 2, 1952, to Russel Doyle and Mary Ermal (Mendenhall) Boles in Osceola, Iowa. He passed away peacefully on June 5, 2018, at the Clarke County Public Hospital in Osceola.

Bob grew up north of Grand River, Iowa and graduated from Grand Valley High School in 1970. He was always interested in ag-business and was in FFA and 4-H as a teenager.

Bob married June Ann Jackson on June 24, 1972. They were blessed with three children, Aaron, Crystal, and Alex. Bob was always very supportive of his family and attended activities of his children, his nieces and nephews, and other family members.

On his 21st birthday he opened Boles Implement Company in Lamoni, Iowa, after having worked at the Used Equipment Center in Colo, Iowa before that. Bob knew every kind and model of farm equipment and loved to share his knowledge with others. He won lots of sales goal trips and went to Branson, Missouri for several years taking Boles Implement employees and spouses. Boles Implement sponsored slow pitch softball teams for both men and women over the years.

He enjoyed tractor pulling and shared his love of it with his oldest brother, Richard, and his nephews. He was president of the Lamoni Fair Board and a member of the Lamoni School Board. He also volunteered on the fire department. After 16 years, the family left Lamoni and moved to Jackson, Minnesota where Bob was National Parts Distribution Manager at Ag-Chem. They lived there for 17 years before moving to Osceola in 2005.

Preceding him in death were his parents; infant son, Aaron, in 1974; and brother, Richard Boles, in 2001.

Survivors include his wife, June Boles, of Osceola; daughter, Crystal Cleary and husband, John, of Golden Valley, Minnesota; son, Alex Boles of Lubbock, Texas; two grandchildren, Cullen and Samantha Cleary; brothers, Ron “Ripper” Boles and wife, JoAnn, of Grand River and Rod Boles and wife, Brenda Osborn, of Lamoni; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2018, with Pastor Rick Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Lamoni, Iowa.
