ROBERT DELK

Robert E. Delk was born November 5, 1922 in Leon, Iowa to Charles W. and Bernice L. (Butler) Delk. He died March 26, 2010 at the VA Hospital in Des Moines.

Bob attended school in Leon and Weldon, Iowa. He graduated from Leon High School in 1940. Bob entered the Navy in 1940 and served until 1964 when he received a medical discharge. During his career in the Navy, Bob was awarded the Purple Heart three times.

Bob married Mildred Lippy on November 20, 1944. Three children were born to this marriage: Robert H., Paul E., and Martha J. Mildred died in 1986. Bob married Caroline Morrison on July 26, 1992.

Left to survive are his wife, Carol; his children: Robert of LaPorte City, Paul (Vernice) of Cedar Falls, and Martha of Reading, PA; three grandchildren; four step grandchildren; his brother: Edwin (Barbara), Richard (Joyce) and James (Grace); his sisters: Marjorie (Shelby) Stevens, and Mary (Parker) Willson; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mildred; two grandsons; a brother, and two sisters.

The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Berean Assembly of God Church, 5299 E. University Ave., in Pleasant Hill, with visitation two hours prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Berean Assembly of God in loving memory of Bob.

NOTE: He was cremated.
