Roland Cecil Peterson, the son of David and Ellen Stark Peterson, was born Oct. 20, 1949, in Osceola and died March 8, 1949, in Leon. He as 43.

He grew up and lived his entire life in the Grand River where he graduated from Grand Valley High School in 1968.

A good worker he operated service stations in Grand River and Decatur City, drove trucks and worked as a ranch hand. He served his country in the U. S. Army Reserve. He like horses, fishing, and hunting, and stock car racing.

He loved his family and friends and brightened their lives with his sense of humor and smile

Mr. Peterson is survived by his four children, Robbie Peterson of Ames, Brittany, Cassandra and Jason Peterson all of Leon; his parents, David and Ellen Peterson of Grand River; his six sisters and their husbands, Mark and Mary Gibson of Osceola, Janet Barnett of Des Moines, Doris Grose of Iowa City, Ed and Vicki McIntosh of Clive, Henry and Merna Baker of Kellerton and Beverly Peterson of Columbia, Mo.; eighteen nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and a host of friends.

Memorial services were held at 10:30 Monday at the Grand River Methodist Church with the Rev. Lynn Wyatt officiating. Burial of cremains was in the Murray Cemetery. Arrangements were made through Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon.

A memorial fund has been established by the family.
