Beatrice "Bea" Woods, 81, died Aug. 5, 2001, of complications following hip surgery at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset.

Graveside services were held at 10 A.M. today (Wednesday, Aug. 8) at Lorimor Cemetery with the Rev. George Hendrickson officiating.

Bea Woods was born March 16, 1920, to Horace and Rachel (Metts) McConnell of rural Murray. She married Charles William Woods on Dec. 13, 1939, in Bethany, Mo. A housewife, Bea also had been employed as a cook for the Lorimor School District. She had been a resident of Winterset for the last one and one-half years. Previously, she had resided in Lorimor since 1946.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and five brothers and sisters.

She is survived by a daughter, Donna Rowland (husband George) of Lorimor; two sons, Jerry Woods (wife Sharon) of Thornton, Colo., and Dick Woods (wife Linda) of Ormond Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Don McConnell of California and Frank McConnell of Mountain Home, Ariz.; three sisters, Arlene Simmerman, Betty Jones and Barbara Gibbons, all of Murray; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
