Jasper Briner died last Tuesday night at the home of his brother Samuel. He was sick only one week with pneumonia fever. He left two little children to mourn his departure, their mother having died several years ago. They are the ones to be pitied, to be left alone in this unfriendly world, but Jesus has promised to care for the orphans.

JASPER BRINER

Jasper Briner, son of Wm. and Elizabeth Briner, was born, January, 17,1879, died March 20,1917, at the age of 38 years, 2 months and 3 days. The deceased died at the home of his brother Sam, on the old home place where he was born and grew to manhood.

His illness lasted only one week, having died from pneumonia.

He was married to Della Metts, Feb 22, 1905, and to this union two children, Pearle age 11, and Homer age 9, were born. His wife died Nov. 6, 1908, with typhoid fever. He stayed with his children, first at the home of his wife's parents and the remaining years of his life at the home of his father.

The deceased leaves to mourn his death a father and mother, four sisters and two brothers Mrs. Ollie Foland, Mrs. Eva Allen, Mrs. Ella Deao, Mrs. Mary Crees, Vester Briner and Sam Briner, all living near Grand River. Two sisters and one brother died in infancy. Before his death he called all his loved ones to his bedside telling them he was going to heaven and was going to die happy and wanted them to promise him they would meet him in that Holy City. When his father came he took him by the hand and said; "Pa, I am going to die and I will meet you in heaven". This was great consolation to his old father. Before he died he told who he wanted to preach his funeral, the songs he wanted and where he wanted to be buried.

Funeral services were held at Pleasant Valley church on Thursday, March 22, conducted by Rev. E. C. Vanderpool, assisted by Rev. J.A. Armstrong. He was laid to rest in the Oak hill cemetery by the side of his wife to await the great resurrection morning.
