Marie (Ritchie) Harrison Watson, the daughter of William VanDuyn and Florence Ida (Gaeth) Ritchie, was born March 28, 1931, in Fremont, Nebraska. She passed away on February 5, 2018, at Sister James Care Center in Yankton, South Dakota at the age of 86 years.

As a child, the family moved to Grand River, Iowa. Marie and her three siblings enjoyed life on the family farm. Marie took great pleasure taking care of their animals including horses, Charlie and Queenie. She graduated from Grand River High School in 1948.

Marie married Robert R. Harrison on September 30, 1948. Five children were born to this union. On March 9, 1974, she married Creed Watson. They owned and operated the C & M Sewing Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Marie was a skilled seamstress, who enjoyed making clothes for her family. She always had an eye for fashion. She also loved to spend time gardening and arranging flowers through the years.

Preceding her in death were her parents; infant son, Robert Harrison; husbands, Robert Harrison and Creed Watson; great grandson, Jeffrey Orval Davis; brother, William Ritchie and wife, Nellie; and son-in-law, Alan Franck.

She is survived by her children, Danny and Ronda Harrison of Chariton, Iowa, Cindy Harrison and husband, Greg Thueson of Bayport, Minnesota, Wendy Franck of Des Moines, Iowa, and Holly and Mike Eisenmenger of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; eight grandchildren, Kenny & Lauren Harrison, Kyle & Melody Harrison, Tonille & Scott Burrows, Rachelle & Jeremy Davis, Brandy & Patrick Bunkers, Abby & Riley Cook, Lisa Franck, and Hanna Thueson; 10 great grandchildren, Delaney and Grant Harrison, Brynn, Augustus, and Luke Harrison, Elaven and Gaven Burrows, Daniel Davis, and Stella and expected baby Bunkers; sisters, Wilma and Merritt Buck of Marietta, Georgia and Phyllis and Albert Hewlett of Grand River; special family friends, Sheri and Alex Reichert; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 2 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2018. Burial will be in the Grand River Cemetery, Grand River, Iowa.
