Ida L. Creal, daughter of Oscar B. and Flora B. Creal, was born near Decatur City September 11, 1877 and passed away at her home in Decatur, March 3, 1943. In the year 1894 she moved with her parents to Decatur, where she resided the remainder of her life. Throughout the years she has been active in the affairs of the community and church life, and will be greatly missed in the home, at church and by her many friends and associates within the community.

In early life she was converted and united with the Methodist church at Decatur and has been an active and influential member through the years. She served the church in several official capacities, having served as president of the Woman's society of Christian Service for several years, concluding that task less then a year ago. Ida, as we all knew her, was a friend to all, and active in every good work, especially devoted to her home, her friends and her church.

On November 17, 1937, she was united in marriage to Elmer Akers, also of Decatur who remains to mourn her departure. Besides her husband she is survived by one sister, Mrs Frank Young of Burlington; two step-children, Otto B. Akers of Decatur, and Mrs Ruth L. Bright of Monmouth, IL; two nephews, Burton Young of Burlington and Earl C. Young of Los Angeles, CA; and one great grand-nephew, Gerald Young, also of Los Angeles. Her parents and one brother preceded her in death.

Funeral services were in charge of the Stewart Funeral Home were conducted Friday afternoon at the Methodist church in Decatur, with Rev. Clarence Moore officiating. Burial was in the Decatur Cemetery.
