Carnie Wayne Anderson was born on March 15, 1934 in Ellston, Iowa. His parents were George and Lena Anderson. He graduated from Ellston High School in 1951. Carnie assisted his father in farming and business until entering the U.S. Air Force in 1956. After his discharge from the military, Carnie purchased the Ellston Elevator from his father and worked with grain, feed, seed and fertilizer.

On November 21, 1958 Carnie was united in marriage to Joyce Richards at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. To this union were born two sons, Marte in 1959 and Corbe in 1962. He was a proud grandpa to Ryan, Kristina, Cortne, Cody and Nicholas; and the proud great-grandpa to Aria.

Carnie would later own and operate a farm equipment and parts depot know as Anderson Supply Company. He served as District Manager for Vermeer Farm Equipment. The family all worked together to sell, service and repair the balers. He also owned and operated farms in Ellston and Lamoni.

Carnie earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at Graceland University in 1967. He served on various public boards and committees in the county. He was an Elder in the R.L.D.S. Church and he spent much of his time in service to the Lord and fellow man.

In 2000, Carnie and Joyce moved with their son Corbe to Oklahoma City, OK and purchased what was known as Anderson Travel Plaza. They made Oklahoma their home until 2010, when they moved to Arkansas. Carnie and Corbe purchased land there and resumed farming again.

Carnie and Joyce spent thirty winters in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, with many dear friends and precious memories!

Carnie passed away July 20, 2017 at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House at Saint Bernard’s in Jonesboro, AR.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Joyce; children Marte and Corbe; grandchildren Ryan, Kristina, Cortne, Cody and Nicholas; great-grandchild Aria; brother Quentin; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lena.

Services were held Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 9 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, Lamoni, IA. Rodney Bastow officiated. Pall beares included Clint Anderson, Ray Toney, Ryan Anderson, Cody Anderson, Will Young and Adam Keilers. Honorary pallbearer was Nicholas Anderson. Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Lamoni, IA.

Memorials may be directed to the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House at Saint Bernard’s in Jonesboro, AR.
