George Samson "Jack" Redman, son of George Castle Redman and Carrie Ann (Smith) Redman, was born May 14, 1907 in Van Wert, Iowa. He passed away at Clarke County Hospital on January 4, 2006 at the age of ninety eight years.

George attended Van Wert School and graduated in 1925. He was united in marriage to Lila Pearl Saffell on April 17, 1930 in Leon. He married Irene (Anderson) Beer in Osceola on Nov. 15, 1957.

George farmed in Decatur County from 1931-1946; he then moved to California for 6 years before returning to the farm. He spent 42 years on the farm altogether. He was a member of Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Leon for 50 plus years and a former member of Elks Lodge in California. He became a member of the Van Wert United Methodist church at age 14.

Preceding George in death were his parents; brother, Harry Redman; sister & brother-in-law, Margaret and Clyde Watson; sister & brother-in-law, Viola and Ware Chastain; a sister in infancy, Hazel Virginia (1919); brother-in-law, Kenneth Perry; and grandson, George Franklin Redman.

He is survived by his wife, Irene of Camdenton, Missouri; son, Carroll G. Redman and wife Janet of Smithfield, North Carolina; son, Floyd Wray Redman of Atascadero, California; daughter, Janice Ann Best and husband Kenneth of Bakersfield, California; step-daughter, Sally Moran and husband Orlin of Camdenton, Missouri; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; brother, Roland James Redman and wife Betty of Van Wert; sister Louise Perry of Van Wert; sister-in-law, Florence Redman of Mitchellville; and many other relatives and friends.

[Interment was made at Van Wert Cemetery, Van Wert, Iowa.]
