Myron Bruce Foland died at his home at the age of 55 with his wife, a daughter and a son by his side. He fought against brain cancer and lost the battle on Aug. 26, 2007.

He was born Sept. 4, 1951, in Osceola, Iowa, to Robert and Baunadine Foland.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Darlene Foland of Joshua Tree; parents Robert and Baunadine Foland of Iowa; children Debbie and husband Mike Unger of Arkansas, Rick Ciampa of California, Susan and husband Bill Walling of California, Kimberly and husband Robert Soukup of Iowa, Theresa Whitney and partner Michelle of California, James and wife Connie Whitney of California and Jacqueline Whitney of Wisconsin; 24 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers Rodney, Craig and Brian Foland of Iowa; sister Bonnie Decker of Iowa; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and customers.

Mr. Foland owned and operated Foland's Landscaping in the local area for 18 years before his death.

He was a former officer with Elks Lodge No. 2314 of Yucca Valley and donated his time to help with Toys for Tots for six years and Food Share for five years. He shared his love of karate with two of his grandsons at Yucca Valley Karate School. He was known for helping anyone in need.

He filled many roles as a husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 2 at Mountain Valley Memorial Park and Mortuary in Joshua Tree.
