Obituary ~ Max Eugene Hileman
March 05, 1942 - December 06, 2016

Max Eugene Hileman, age 74, of Grand River, Iowa, the son of Paul and Maxine Elizabeth (Munyon) Hileman, was born March 5, 1942, at Grand River, Iowa. He died at the Veterans Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa on Tuesday, December 6, 2016.

Max grew up in Grand River and attended Grand River Schools. He served in the United States Army as a military police officer in Germany. He enlisted on May 4, 1967, and was honorably discharged on April 16, 1969.

After the Army, Max did some farming and construction jobs before working until retirement on the assembly line at Maytag in Newton, Iowa. In his free time, Max loved to shoot pool, and was on a pool league. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, unless the fish weren’t biting, then it was, “Let’s blow this pop stand.”

He led a simple life and will be missed by his loving family. Those preceding him in death were his parents; stepbrother, John Brown; and his infant daughter, Brandy Lynn Hileman.

Funeral services will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2016, with Pastor Dale Short officiating. Burial will be in the Munyon Cemetery, Grand River, Iowa.

Memorials may be left to the Grand River Community Center in Max’s memory.
